New faces: Rui Dalton

Holly Rose Emery and Andrej Pejic are not the only intriguing models to hail, respectively, from The Land of The Long White Cloud and the Balkans. Meet 17 year-old surfer/skater/base jumper Rui Dalton. 

The striking 6'2" 17 year old - who was born in Australia to a Serbian mother and Maori father - lives on Queensland's Sunshine Coast and was scouted a fortnight ago by Jo Sheils of Caloundra, QLD-based scouting agency Hunter Model Management. 

Just signed to Brisbane's Dally's Models, the ultra athletic Dalton, who is also a qualified surf lifesaver, has already caught the eye of New Zealand's Black magazine, which has dubbed him one to watch and will soon feature him in its pages.

UPDATE 25/05/13: As of this week, Dalton is now signed to Chic Management in Sydney. 

With nearly half of the top runway models at last month's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia new faces who had never previously appeared at the event, Australian models powering ahead on the world's runways during show season and IMG Models opening up shop in Sydney last year, it's clear that the hunt is on for the Next Big Things from Down Under.  

The Spring/Summer 2014 menswear season kicks off in London in a month's time. Who wants to bet we may see a tour of duty by Dalton?
