Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide - and even Alice Springs - have been launchpads for some of this country's biggest modelling names in recent years. Now it's Darwin's turn.

Meet Northern Territorian Elina Moscheni, who signed with Sydney's Viviens Model Management several weeks ago.

Originally scouted in August 2011 by Abigail Trewin, the director of Darwin-based Making Faces Model Management, during one of the agency's modelling courses, the 5'9" 15 year-old walked in this year's inaugural Darwin Fashion Week and also recently nabbed the cover of local lifestyle magazine Resident.

Moscheni - who has an Italian father and an indigenous Australian mother - turns 16 before the end of this year, meaning that she will be eligible for bookings at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in April. That's if she is not snapped up for an earlier runway showcase. Then there is the inaugural Indigenous Australian Fashion Week, which is now due to take place in August 2013 in Sydney. Having secured Samantha Harris as its ambassador, the event will no doubt be on the lookout for more indigenous Australian models.
