Codie Young is the face of Marc Jacobs' latest fragrance

via wwd

Congratulations are due to Codie Young on the occasion of her first fragrance campaign. The Sunshine Coast model is the face of Marc Jacobs' third womens' fragrance, 'Dot', which is due to be released in the US and UK in July according to a story in the April 6 edition of WWD, which also reports a projected global first year retail sales estimate of US$100million. With this campaign under her belt, 19 year-old Young - who has been modelling for under two years - has entered the ranks of Australia's highest earning models. How many other Australians have scored international fragrance deals? They include Alyssa Sutherland (Bulgari), Gemma Ward (Calvin Klein), Abbey Lee Kershaw (Gucci), Andrej Pejic (Jean Paul Gaultier), Catherine McNeil (Narciso Rodriguez), Skye Stracke (Cacharel), Sarah Stephens (Lacoste) and Juliana Forge (Ralph Lauren).

Krystal formation

So Australia's biggest fashion event, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, is just around the corner (May 2-6). Which new faces might it springboard? Frockwriter is betting that Krystal Glynn will be among them. Spotted on Bondi Beach a week ago by The Agency's Lincoln Ferguson, the 5'11" 16 year-old Penrith schoolgirl has, reports Ferguson, already been photographed by David Shields for New Zealand's Black Magazine and shoots tomorrow with Christopher Morris for the same title, with a booking from Rene Vaile to shoot for Oyster and Holly Blake for another magazine. And she is about to be signed to New York agency DNA. "It's a scouter's paradise" says Ferguson of his Bondi HQ, where he stumbled upon Glynn stretched out on the sand, soaking up the sun in a vintage white crochet one-piece. "Everyone walking past was stopping and staring at her, she was oblivious to everything. I thought I was looking at a shot from RUSSH or old school Vogue from the 1980s”.

Young blood

Last week frockwriter mentioned new Sunshine Coast face Codie Young. Modelling for a few months, flown to Rosemount Australian Fashion Week for the Ellery show, signed to DNA in New York and booked for three Vogue Australia editorials – with VA editor Kirstie Clements reportedly “obsessed” with her - things are moving pretty quickly for the 17 year-old. We are not likely to see further images of Young in any magazines other than Vogue Australia for the immediate short term because, frockwriter understands, the latter has her locked down on an exclusive. But we can reveal this unpublished test, shot with Australian photographer Thom Kerr in Brisbane on Monday.
