A chat with Kelvin Harries

Sydney stylist Kelvin Harries pulls together all the David Jones shows. Here is a quick chat we had backstage after this morning's show, during which we talked trends and models - notably, just how young Australian models are supposed to get any runway experience now that Rosemount Australian Fashion Week has banned under-16s from its event and David Jones will now not use anyone under the age of 18.

Hi Patty,

I am new to reading frockwriter and must say I really enjoy reading it. As for the interview with the David Jones stylist on under age models taking to the Australian runways I agree that they should be over 18years of age. There are too many young models who look still like little girls to be selling garments aimed at adults. My daughter went along to the casting for the show and was unsuccessful I think due to not having enough experience...better luck for her next year.Keep up the good work Patty.

I think it's an excellent idea banning under 16 y.o. models on the runway. I get tired of seeing children trying to sell clothing that only an adult could really afford.

Must comment on the choice of models that Kelvin Harries and co chose for the runway for David Jones this year was crap crap crap. The standard is just not there in comparison to Europe, move over Mr Harries and let me choose and cast them next year please please............lets see some new faces for a change and perhaps give the newbies a go like some really interesting looking faces from eg.Melisse Williams and Natalie Casale and Holly Kagis they would most likely do a better job than some.
