Wassup?
elite paris
Once again, it’s hard keeping up with Oz modelling news on the OS catwalks. Below is an updated showlist from Wednesday’s post which revealed that no less than 11 Australian girls were in New York last week. Chic Management’s Myf Shepherd led the NY charge with an impressive 20 shows. Now comes word via Grazia – that’d be the very high profile UK edition (and thanks to Chowder for the headsup) – that Chadwicks’ Georgie Wass (pictured above) is a face to watch at London Fashion Week, which is now underway. According to Grazia, the 19 year-old redhead from Sydney has been confirmed for Topshop, Jaeger, Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoll and Armand Basi… “and then she's going to Milan on exclusive for Prada!”. Which pretty much guarantees that Wass probably won’t be walking in Prada. Which would be a shame, so we hope we are wrong.
Prada’s casting director Russell Marsh is notorious for his guerilla casting tactics.
A Prada exclusive often means that noone knows about the exclusive until it happens – and the model involved tends not to have been seen anywhere else that season (a case in point, Gemma Ward).
Many girls are optioned for Prada shows. And urban fashion legend has it that Marsh is prone to dropping girls as late as the show's hair & makeup stage – if he discovers that they have blabbed about the gig.
In September, coincidentally, after Kiwi Olivia O’Driscoll’s agent talked to a NZ newspaper about O’Driscoll flying to Milan for an alleged Prada exclusive, which we reported, O’Driscoll did not turn up on Prada's runway.
With other local names boasting London and/or Milan showcards, expect to see Abbey Lee Kershaw, Alexandra Agoston-O'Connor and Tallulah Morton popping up very soon (22/02: see updated lists with London shows, below).
For the moment Alice Burdeu appears to be MIA.
Feel free to add to, if frockwriter has missed anything, as we track their season.

There are runway show casting directors who DO show extraordinary talent when choosing girls, and then there is Russell Marsh...
Remember last season he chose a girl for a Prada show exclusive - she fell at the show, she did one other small show in Paris and yet models.com still named her as one of their Top 10 faces!!!
Remember also the previous show season; he selected a young Ukrainian model Lera Sheremeta to open the Prada show, but just before the show started she was dumped because she made a negative remark about the clothes she was wearing! - ...did she go on to show the incredible talent that Mr Marsh saw in her? Of course not, now its Lera... Lera Who?
It doesn't surprise me that he dumps girls because their names were leaked - his interest is all about creating and maintaining his own kudos - he has little interest and even less aptitude in selecting models for modelling skills (just as long as they're skinny and young). He's the leader of the bandwagon and thats where his talent starts and ends. His power in this industry comes from those fashion bimbo's who "Oooooo and aaahhhh" over a (his) name, and who have no intrinsic ability to think for themselves. Unfortunately there are oodles of them, afterall, this is the fashion industry and its
