Thanks to Twitter, we now have a new friend-filtering system. For someone who's job it is to gather information, like your good self, I can make the exception. But really, it's a sad world when people care about having this information - and at what expense? If we all know what everyone else is doing in the now, and are busy trying to let others know what we are doing (filtered of course, so we sound good)how do we ever have time to appreciate the most important thing - our own lives?

sorry, i don't understand your point - at least not in connection to coverage of a rolling news event such as a major fashion week/season. all that twitter has changed is the speed via which the information is being disseminated. blogs/online media used to be the fastest. they have now become second news responders.

as for the day-to-day aspects of twitter, i see its value more as a conversation. it is hard to get your head around at first. everyone who uses it will tell you the same thing - that it took them a while. it's great for eyewitness accounts of course. the hudson river plane crash was for example first broken on twitter. but the rest of the time it serves as a kind of global watercooler conversation, via which people share information, links etc... with some exceptions of course, the more you use it the more you realise that the people who tweet about what they had for breakfast or what they are wearing, are really the least interesting people to follow.
