People, do we have a new model power couple on our hands? After McBeha – Catherine McNeil and Freja Beha Erichsen - modelwatchers couldn't help notice the new friendship that has blossomed between Australia's latest rising model star, Myf Shepherd and Dutch supermod Nimue Smit, both 17. Frockwriter is claiming first dibs on a hybrid name for the new duo: Smyf.

With a veritable avalanche of shots of the pair surfacing over the past week, taken backstage by a variety of media outlets at various shows, it’s been hard to miss Smyf.

Whether they’re locking lips - or just the best of mates - nice to see Shepherd and Smit making friendships on the circuit.

It can be a lonely place.

Awww! Cute story!

I think it was the brief interview with Vogue Australia that Myf said her school friends weren't very accepting of her. Not sure if it was because her status and exposure as an upcoming model but it's seriously always welcoming when there are happy moments. It's always disheartening every time you hear a model passing away.

patty, they're just best friends. believe me. why the insinuations? too cute for words nonetheless.

oh I've noticed that too ! I'm really happy a model finds a best friend there, not just acquaintances but someone you can rely on... as you said, this is a lonely place

Patty, have you watched Myf wearing Julian Louie yet? Amazing.

Myf has remarked that she had some social difficulties in high school, which by the way was, what, last year?

Leaving school has enabled her to move beyond the small-minded people from whatever school or town she had to endure and meet a world full of talented and colourful people all working in the same industry. She finally meets a "bestie" (or lover, who fricken cares)in the process and what does she have to put up with? A story-hungry blogger who writes a piece that is only marginally more grown up than a juvenile yelling "LEZZO!" across the playground.

Noice one maaaate!

actually, i simply noted the friendship - which has been hard to avoid, given all the photographs of the two of them together - and said how nice it was to see myf making friends on the circuit. i canvassed the possibility (however remote), that they might be a couple. but it was the friendship which interested me more than anything.

the sunday telegraph yesterday went further than that, implying there may be a relationship. the story you just commented on was published two months ago.

Patty, we both know caring about the friendship is a thin veil for titillating a rumour.

Besides, I don't think it's wise or classy to compare with the Tele.
