Where’s Abbey Lee? (Definitely) On the cover of V

Well this may help make up for that esoteric Dazed & Confused cover we told you about on Friday - not to mention the nasty prang at Rodarte yesterday, when Kershaw's vertiginous Nicholas Kirkwood platforms got the better of her. Before D&C has even hit the stands, Abbey Lee Kershaw has cracked page one of one of the world’s most high profile fashion magazines, V. Nose ring to boot.

The issue is out tomorrow. And OK, OK, OK, Kershaw might be one of 14 V cover girls next month – fashion magazines have taken to making multiple covers of late.

But for the V55 celebration issue, Kershaw is partnered up with thirteen “of the most beautiful women on earth”, according to V mag, as shot by leading fashion snapper duo, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin.

Notes the V website:

“We like to think of it as our 21st-century survey of modern beauty, starring cover girls Eniko Mihalik, Malgosia Bela, Anna Selezneva, Daria Werbowy, Frankie Rayder, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Natasha Poly, Sunniva Stordahl, Christy Turlington, Agyness Deyn, Naomi Campbell, Lara Stone, Anja Rubik, and Eva Herzigova”.

It’s pretty fast company for a girl who had never set foot on an international runway eight months ago - and who is currently ranked the world number 21 working model by models.com.

Kershaw's Chic Management stablemate Catherine McNeil, who is ranked the world # 9, is not amongst next month's V cover girls, but then of course McNeil scored her own V cover eight months ago: V47.

With at least 15 New York SS09 shows under Kershaw's belt the last time I checked (which was before the shows for Tuesday 6 September had even been posted), someone is having a blockbuster sophomore season.

Did you Abbey had a massive fall on the Rodarte runway yesterday. Can't wait to see the video.
It only makes me love her more!

Hey thanks for the headsup MH. I hadn't even had a chance to go through Style File yet. I've updated the post. Can't find any images as yet. Poor thing, I hope she's OK. People laugh about those runway falls but you could really do some serious damage. I remember during SS07, Dolce e Gabbana I think it was, Iekeliene mentioned that one model had fallen during rehearsals and then refused to do the show. The heels were absurdly high and you cannot, apparently, see a foot in front of you on the runway in that D&G theatre.

Gorgeous girl, I'm sure her fall will do her career no harm! I remember Jessica Stam once having an nasty spill on the catwalk and her career seemed to take off after that.

Hey Patty, are you going to add the new 'Following' feature for bloggers?

Patty Huntington said...

jodes - i don't know at this stage. you can at least see which blogs are linking to me via technorati (although technorati is not infallible - there's quite a few that don't register). ditto peeps following via twitter. not that i twitter so much at the moment.

of course i know who's following because i can see the IP addresses - and in the case of companies, also their domain names. and funnily enough, every major oz media outlet seems to be on here each day. in some cases almost every hour.

Mmm, I was more thinking of 'Following' for those of us mere mortals who read your blog on a regular basis. Both because it works as a 'heads up' for when new entries arrive and its a bit like barricking for your favourite footy team, giving you visible recognition of your supporters/fans of your writing. The more 'Followers' you have, the more you'll attract and so on.
